As for the scanner, as long as it's got a handful of buttons on it so it will do more then just display the error, one of the options that comes up is usually to delete/remove the code. The one my friend bought from Auto Zone was 60 bucks and does everything we need.
Update: The Truck was manufactured in 11/95, but its a 96 model on the title. This means it has OBD-I right? How this affect the whole fault-code-clearing process?

Thanks for all your help guys!

The inspection on this truck is up @ the end of the month. In texas, if the CEL is on, you automatically fail.

So if I use a scanner to remove/delete the fault code;
(1) How long before the light come back on over the same code?
(2) Will I be able to pass inspection?

I appreciate all your guys help!!
