I got all my O2 sensors replaced, and now I am down to the last code before I can get that CEL off!!

P0443 seems to be the Evap control valve solenoid, and I wondered if this is the part I need.

I bought this truck used, and it just needs some basic maint. items. I replaced all 3 of the O2 sensors, and now if I can get this one last piece replaced, she will be good to go

Its a clean truck! A 96 150 Eddie Bauer with a 5spd. And those 300's will run FOREVER if you maintain them, I just don't get how people aren't willing to put in the little amount of time to maintain their vehicles!

Yep thats the one,dont see many that go bad but you never know.Be sure to check the vacuum line and hoses for cracks also.

I replaced the part this afternoon, pulled the negative cable for a few mins, drove a few mins(light was off) then, half way back to my apt, the check engine light came back on. Autozone said I need to drive ~100 miles before they scan it again, as scanning it right now does no good

Will the CEL go off on its own? I was under the impression when u dump the computer like that, the computer should pick up the new part...

Find yourself a local shop that has a scanner and have them delete the code for you, then run and recheck it. Auto Zone won't delete the codes, usually.

its a 96 EB F150 L6..will the scanner work fine with that old of a scanner?

And is this a scanner I can pickup at autozone, or is this some special scanner that can delete codes? My old roomate works at his family's car lot, and I know they have scanners there.

All cars built since January 1, 1996 have OBD-II systems. So...unless your truck was one of the late 1995 models, you should have it. And even then, since it's a 96 model you should have the plug. As for the scanner, as long as it's got a handful of buttons on it so it will do more then just display the error, one of the options that comes up is usually to delete/remove the code. The one my friend bought from Auto Zone was 60 bucks and does everything we need.

A generic OBD2 scanner should clear the code. Most OBD2 codes will not clear just by unhooking the battery.
