New F-150 Owner, Suggestions please!
Hello All,
I'm new to F-150 ownership. I usually run Chevrolets but I got an amazing deal on this pick-up. Plus nobody can beat the way these old Fords look. Anyway I'm looking for basically any and all advice. I plan on making this a project truck and keeping it for years. Really want to make it a head turner. I'm also interested in any basic performance mods that would really help increase motor longevity and help the old girl run better. My first order of business is to do a basic tune-up and was wondering what kind of plugs these trucks like/dislike. Also I tried to attach an image but it only seems to let you attach pictures that have a URL?
Thanks All,
Joe

X2 on the motorcraft copper plugs. Stay away from the trick plugs. Even msd and other performance tuner sites recommend the copper cores and advise you to stay away from iridium and split electrode types. I switched to synthetic fluid for the motor, trans and diff at 120k miles and haven't burned a drop of oil. Seems to run quieter and smoother.

Maybe to many trucks?
Personally I always run Auto lite with copper cores. I haven't had one problem with them and they do great.
Nice truck by the way although I am not much of a red guy.

I would put that grill into a stock housing personally or take it off for a stock grill, and as far as making it last longer did the previous owner regear for the bigger tires if not I would

I run Motorcraft copper cores too. They are great so far. I have been Seafoaming my motor on a regular basis for the last year (I bought a '92 a little over a year ago and it was in rough shape). While any perceived power gains may be in my head, I have been watching the MPGs and they have been gradually moving in the right direction. Also, it limped home on the interstate at 60 MPH the night that I bought it and now it will cruise around 70 MPH with no problem. While it's not the only thing that I have done to get th old girl running better, it certainly can't be ignored.

Flareside- I do not believe this truck has been regeared, I plan on stepping down to 33 inch tires. The lift is supposedly 6 inches, but realistically its 4 inch in the front and 6 inches in the rear. If I was to regear it would 4.10s be the best option? I don't know anything about that..
Lazarus- I use seafoam and lucas on a regular basis, I'm with you on that!
The rims need to be replaced to ones with an offset, it looks odd with tires that big tucked under the wheel wells...not to mention it rubs.
Appreciate the feedback gentleman, keep it coming!
