Default need help with overdrive

hey there fellas, i'm buying the 98 f250 and i have a question about the overdrive. it's an auto but the overdrive switch on the shifter is mia. my question is will the truck stay in overdrive if i can get it in overdrive and will it stay on or turn off when i shut the truck off? any help would be greatly appriciated.thanks.

Mines a 91, so I'm not sure if it's the same on the newer ones or not... but on mine, it starts with OD on no matter what, and you have to push the button to shut the OD off. Shut it off and restart, and the OD is back on.

see thats what i'm thinkin but i just to make sure. i'm gettin 7MPG in my '91 and i'm tryin to get at least 10 for better mileage. i would like to see 12 to 15. my philosophy is if i'm gonna get 7 mpg why not make it bigger. thanks fur the info though.
