I have a F150 1991 with a 5.0L engine and need to replace the ECM. The number for the ECM is FITF-12A650-TA. I can't find it anywhere on line and hesitate to go to the FORD dealer. I did find a company called Auto Computer Exchange (http://www.autocomputerexchange.com/) who say they can mail me one.

Does anyone have any experience getting an ECM for a F150? Any other ideas as to wear I can buy one other than out of a junk yard (and hope it works)?

You'll need to find the right one for your truck's year, engine, and options. eBay would be a good spot (several reputable sellers), but it might take awhile to come across the right one.

Just search for 'ford f150 91 computer' and you'll find a few. 1991 is a transition year, so it might be a little harder to find one than some other years.

Thanks so much for the info. I went ahead and order the ECM from the autocomputerexchange.com. I'm in the Northern Virginia area and called several auto parts store and no one carried what I needed. The autocomputerexchange guys just needed the original part number off the old ECM and the VIN number of the truck. They "programmed" what I needed and shipped it within 24 hours.

Of course, now the test will be if it works or not. If it doesn't I'll update everyone.

If you don't mind me asking, what made you decide to replace the ECM?
