Default fuel tank issue

i have 1991 f-150 4.9 with dual tanks and my rear tank works just fine but my truck will not run on my front one and it has half tank of gas

With the truck off, turn the switch to the front tank. Turn key on, but don't start the truck - do you hear the pump prime? (humming sound for a second or two) Probably a bad fuel pump in the tank - it's hard to find one of these old trucks with both tanks working.

Fuel pumps are easy to change, though. If you pick up the Chilton or Haynes manual it will walk you through step-by-step.

thanks i tryed that and i dont hear any humming like the rear tank about rare i know just what you are saying to see both tanks working my dad has had like 3 of these 8th jeneration f-150 that had the same prob i will fix the pump eventually i need to put a tranny in it to its on my list
