fuel tank issue

With the truck off, turn the switch to the front tank. Turn key on, but don't start the truck - do you hear the pump prime? (humming sound for a second or two) Probably a bad fuel pump in the tank - it's hard to find one of these old trucks with both tanks working.
Fuel pumps are easy to change, though. If you pick up the Chilton or Haynes manual it will walk you through step-by-step.
