Mustang 302 vs. F150 302
Ok so im wondering what the difference is between a 86 - 93 era mustang 5.0L 302 and a 87 - 93 ford f150 5.0L 302 besides the intake manifold whats the difference? I want to know because i can find performance parts for the mustangs 5.0L and if its pretty much the same engine i can use it on the f150's 5.0L.

Heads can be put on. You need F150 headers. The cams are not interchangeable without alot of modification. The firing order is diffrent from a Mustang to a F150. You will have to get a cam for a non HO motor. I do not remember when they started putting roller motors in the F150. I don't think it was 86 or 87.

i wouldnt jump into it yet. i would wait for more opinions..also www.wikipedia.org is a good tool. look under ford engines and it will tell you what kind of engines were used for what years.

a mustang engine has some forged internals i was told my 90 f150 didnt have anything forged, i know the intakes, and TB are different, and i think the heads are to "not positive on the heads though but they look different", all in all pretty different engines in my book....
i have a 88mustang gt 5spd, i love the fox bodies

One thing I learned over at the Cougar site (I have a 78 Cougar XR7) is the ports on the heads are different between the engines equipped with two and four barrel carb's. They engine guru's over there point out a four barrel carb' will not work well on a two barrel head.
I have always thought it would be cool to fit a modern Ford GT40 V8 in an F150. This is, of course, a highly modified 5.4 L V8, DOHC 4 valve per cylinder, dry sump, with a twin screw supercharger putting out 550 hp, and 500 fp of torque. Yes I know you could build up a 460 with much more horse power for mucho less money but you would not have nearly as big a "cool factor"
The GT40 V8, drool, covet, Look at all of those pulleys you can fondle, think of stroking the supercharger........does this make me an enginophile
