I meant 44 series. If you have the cat still your truck will always sound quite in my opinion.


Right now my brother's 91 F150 4.9L is straight piped and dumps under the cab not even sure it has the cats or not but I am betting it is going to be loud and sound like a tractor.

Didn't they stop making the 40 series and basically put the 44 in its place?

Ya I believe so. I had the 40 series on a 302 F150 86 and it sounded ok when the rest of the exhaust wasn't falling apart.

Yes, the patent ran out on the 40 series and they released the 44.
