Default More stupid electrical stuff...

Alright so my positive battery cable leads down to a little solenoid looking thing I don't know what it's called but it's underneath my truck
I need to know the name of it if any of you guys know... and I was wondering, there is this little wire that splits of on it to another part and the wire is frayed and my truck won't start.
I know the exact problem but I don't know what any of it is called
so if anyone has the name of the part I'm looking for I'd greatly appreciate it
I would go out but it's raining, 40 degrees, and my truck is in my work parking lot

Pictures tend to help a lot when identifying parts. Is said part on the frame? Or engine? And what engine?

The positive cables lead to the starter solenoid on the starter, and another cable leads to the fender relay near the hood.

On the solenoid should be a small wire, it runs back up to the fender relay. You should also have a large black cable on the the starter which is your ground.

Sounds like the starter relay power wire is shot. Fix/replace the bad wire and then you should be good to go.
