Hey guys, i have a '96 f-150 with a 5.0L 302 and was wondering if any of you had any ideas for fairly cheap and simple upgrades i can do to get a few more horses out of my 302. Thanks

Remove the silencer from the air box. Take the A/C off and run a short belt. Install a K&N filter. If the throttle body has water running thru it bypass that. After that it starts to cost ya.

Can i run a short belt on the 302? I was under the impression i would have to replace the a/c compressor with an idler(i could be wrong, im still learning).

Yes you can. Done it on MANY 'Stangs.

I used to run a short belt on my 3.9 dakota in the winter to get more power.

How do you remove the airbox silencer?

I dont think your truck has one, only the 98-2003 5.4 had one I belive.

If it has a remote air box it has a silencer of some kind.look on the intake side of the airbox. It will either be a tube that gets small or it will attach to a box that makes air go thru a series of loops to quiet it down.
