Default Modifying intake for more air

I've looked, and searched, for how to modify my intake so that I could suck more air into my truck, seeing as how restrictive the intake is, and can not come up with anything that is worth trying.

I was wondering what you guys know along the lines of improving air flow throughout the truck, and general air intake. I simply want to make it so that my truck can draw more air through the scoop, without having to buy a CAI.

Thanks.

What motor and year? If its a 4.9 you don't really need to do anything. It's already cold air.

On my 95 5.0 all I did was remove the upper part of the air box, bought a MAF adapter and clamped a k&n cone filter to it. The filter lays in the lowe part of the air box so air is still directed to it from the grill.

What's been posted already sounds interesting, but for the year and engine it is a 1989 5.0 302.

Your probem is it's a MAP engine. it has a limited ability to compensate for to much more than a K&N drop in provides w/o running lean. The injector's are more than capable of providing the extra fuel to balance the extra air being provided. However, the MAP isn't capable of knowing there's extra air & telling the ECU, so it adjusts fuel for the increase. This is why some people w/ MAP engines convert them to MAF! Also, if it's injected, it's already CAI. Think about it! Maybe not the configuration you'd like.

Oh, so other then being able to drop in a K&N, I would be pretty stuck with doing anything else?

I really am just trying to find some worthwhile mods, to increase horsepower. Seeing as how its 21 years old (Can finally have a beer), it's lost a bit of power.

On the air intake anyway. You biggest increase in performance & mpg would be an ignition system upgrade Mod w/ base timing bump & plug gap stretch.
http://fullsizebronco.com/forum/show...ht=timing+bump Around $2oo. plus elbow grease.
