Question 89 302 info

I have a 1989 f150 ext cab 2wd. I'm not sure what type of 302 I have. Whether it's a roller cam or flat tappet cam. Also how easy it would be to change over to mass air flow and if there is any kits out there. If anybody has info on this topic it would be greatly appreciated.

You've probably got the same 302 that came in my 89, it was a flat tappet non roller. As far as I know the only roller 5.0 motors were the HO's in the mustangs. Been a lot of people askin bout mass air conversions lately. I just did my 89 a couple weeks ago and it was def worth the money. Got mine from massair.com...its a pretty pricey kit but it comes with everything you will need to do it... a9l computer flashed for your application, harnesses, dual o2 sensors, maf sensor and housing, piping...ect. 1500 bucks is the downside, pretty pricey. But I didnt find anybody else to get it from, Ford Racing discontinued their kit.

you got flat taped hydrulic cam setup just did my 302 new lifters seals push rods and rockers no point in changeing the cam cause isnt worth the money cost 400 to do it all right with the speed density crap sensor but instead ill save up for a supercharger cause i lowered my copression from 8.6 to 8.3 with bigger cc heads i figured i already had them ported polished and valves reworked and replaced instead of leaving it in the garage ill put it on

and i hate sensors if theres a way to get rid of ever stupid sensor let me know all i want is oil temp fuel and volts thats it i hate the stupid cam sensors crank senors o2 sensors so much sensors to make this car gas saveing and clean when even though we have cats the first 10 mins there not working cause cats work by the cemical reaction from the heat and toxins makeing a reaction with the platnium so with out heat it doesnt work completely well good luck

Good question...but if you wanna go that far and make it a stroker just make it into a roller motor. Machine shops can install cam roller bearings.
