I have a 95 F150 - 4.9
I am getting rid of my muffler as well.. I was going to put a flow master.. I also want to remove my Cat, We have no emissions here so I don't need to worry bout that..

Wondering if I remove the cat will I get a check engine lite?

Thanks,

Ant...

i'm not sure about other states but missouri has this law that the exhaust must exit out from under the passenger compartment of the vehicle,

i cut my exhaust off under the cab and welded in a flowtech afterburner muffler sideways right next to the transfercase, it stuck out from the cab about 3 inches and flowed under the bed(not a passenger compartment lol) it sounded good, the exhaust bouncing off the underside of the bed and the ground made it louder and i didnt get the tractor sound.
but the sound does get tiring like others said, but i feel that way about all exhaust systems no matter what kind of car you have be it a 4banger or a v8,

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BIG-50321FLT/ here is the muffler i had 2 1/4 inlet and outlet

your truck isnt OBDII yet so youll be fine. just make sure that your 02 sensor is before the cat and leave the 02 sensor put! if you dont have it youll lose ***** and gas mileage. a guys 2 favorite things.. besides well, you know.

I went to the local muffler shop and got the rear muffler section chopped off and kept only the precat and ran a straight pipe to right in front of the passenger rear tire with a black chrome tip. Sounds amazing. Not loud or raspy, just nice and throaty. only cost me 75 bucks. =]

When you say you chopped off the rear muffler section You mean you chopped it off right after the cat??

Revival: I've heard that a straight six with straight pipes sounds terrible. If anyone has one could you upload a video or sound clip?? Thanks

I just took the muffler off my truck so right now it's just got a cat on it with a 2 foot long piece of exhaust from the cat and that's it and I like the sound and if I want it quiet I just put the muffler back on and it's quiet again I'll post pics tomorrow..
