Hey Kawiegirl26 I tried that napa belt as well and it didnt work for me neither so I pulled my tackle box out got some fishing string and measured it the hard way If you need a picture of my truck(belt) shoot me a text 407-591-1715. Hope that helps oh and the belt number that worked for me was K060919 thats a master pro belt worked better that the Napa.

Thanks but I gave up and did it the hard way too using bailing twine of course. My dad had put a bigger alternator on the truck before I bought it and that is what was causing my problem.

Hate to dredge up an old thread but I have the same issue with the belt hitting the bolt on the alternator. How did you fix it? Did you upgrade to a 3g alternator that moves the mounting points to the unused holes or is there another method to route the belt?

Default fyi

So I fixed my air pump delete issue by installing a later model 3g alternator in the other bolt holes and used a K060970 belt. Fits great. I also did a saginaw upgrade on my truck. The original belt almost fit (the tensioner was all the way out so I went with a belt 1 inch shorter than original and it's perfect.

So 1993 with 2g alterntor. Did a 3g late model alternator upgrade(Plug and play minus tapping the middle wire on the d plug for the stator plug and running a new 8 gauge charge wire). Saginaw pump upgrade belt = 1 inch longer than factory or K060970. This is just for the people that end up on this page searching like I did.

Here's my '91 4.9 with 2G alternator and air pump removed. Not sure why I did not have any issues....

Default bracket

I'm pretty sure in 92 or 93 they changed the alternator bracket so it would accept the 2g or 3g. My bracket has 3 bolt holes on the top and two on the bottom. My belt would hit the bottom alternator bolt if I ran it the way yours is routed.

Ah, that might explain it then. It also means I have an extra thing to factor in when I get around to installing the 3G. Are you suggesting the 3G won't mount up to the older bracket? I've got a couple different 3G's - one from a '95 F150 and another from a Windstar 3.8.

Well my bracket is designed for a 3g but they have certain other alternators that are supposed to fit. I think the Taurus 3.8 is the one that fits in the original 2g spot.

Also I didn't follow the standard write up for the 3g install. I just bought the one wire for the stator and cut back the middle wire on the d plug just a little, ran the stator wire through it, soldered it, put the liquid electric tape on it, let it dry, wrapped it with real electrical tape, and then put the chafe guard on it and taped that up.
