ive a weird problem with my truck,if i drive it for a few minutes its fine,but if i drive it for a while especially when its hot outside after i cut it off it will either not start or start and act like its running out of gas after about 20-45 seconds of running,then if i let it sit for a couple hours it will do fine????? ive tried switching back and forth between tanks and it still wont run til it cools all the way down,please help,thanks

What have you done to it lately? or neglected to do to it lately? what kind of engine/transmission. Have you ran for codes? do you have stock tires and a stock setup? or have you moddified it? Need MORE INFORMATION man!

Mine does the EXACT same thing. The first time I thought it was my battery. I did some things that made it a lot better, but long drives in high heat still do it on occasion. The problem ended up being that it was getting too hot, so the temperature thing makes me think you have the same problem. I did two things to solve mine. My coolant was a really strong concentration so I lowered it, you really want less than half coolant to water down here in florida because it isnt going to freeze the water around here. So if yours is real strong like straight coolant, lean it out. The water dissipates heat better than coolant. The other thing was my cat was pretty old and clogged up, so I cut it off and redid the exhaust system. Hope this helps some or at least gives you some ideas

its a 302/aod it has 91,000 miles i just got the truck a couple months ago,i was thinking fuel pump or coil??

Well if switching tanks doesn't help then the in tank pumps aren't the problem. It could be your main external fuel pump though. But I would think if that was the case it would act funny while it was running after it got hot too, but I'm not sure. If when you go to start it again after running the fuel pump does its initial few second kick on to prime the system, I would think the pump isn't the problem

dude dont just be throwing money at it an hope it works. do a little research an testing, and figure out before you put money into it.

i have its getting spark,fuel and everything seems to be fine so i have to start somewhere i guess lol

carbon build up can cause that as well.

i would check the coil. i worked on a jimmy for a friend that kept not wanting to start after it heated up. then when it cooled down it ran fine. i replaced the ignition modual first then that wanst the problem it was the hall effect piece around the distributor. i had fun changing that for him cause i had to pull the whole distibutor out. how full do you fill up your gas tanks cause my friend would fill his up and would end vapor locking cause the tank was so full and they had to sit on the side of the road for a while till they could start it again.
