Intake Gasket Replacement
#11
Probably not a great idea. Mine was broke when I got the upper intake off. I wound-up using a piece of the smog system hose (deleted smog) to fix it because it's for higher temps. I haven't had a CEL yet, and it's been like a month.

Well some good news. I had a tech check it a little more closely than I did, and it's just the upper intake manifold gasket that's leaking, so it shouldn't be too difficult. Will I still need to remove the fuel lines?
I do have a Haynes manual, so I'll be referencing that a lot! The gasket kit talks about a breather filter on the back of the head? I know the PCV is on the back of the valve cover, but I don't recall seeing a filter back there. Thoughts on the importance of replacing that too?

you will need a torques bit t-20 if i remember correctly and you will need it to fit 1/4 drive or do i like i did pulled bit out of 3/8 drive and used rtv to hold in socket. 3/8 drive wont fit between the upper intake runners.

Well all done. That torx bit really made a challenge...I didn't have the right tools. Had to engineer something. EGR was blocked with carbon, cleaned that all out, changed plugs, and.changed air filter. Surge is gone, and she runs like new! Thanks for the tips fellas!
