Default instrument cluster

My temperature gauge has stoped working after 17 years. I found a whole cluster on e-bay that has a tach in it. My question is will it plug in and work > My cluster does not have a tach now. The new temp gauge costs 300.00 by it self. Thanks for your help!

I'm not sure about compatibility of a different cluster, but someone should be able to help with that.

Have you checked the sending unit for the temp guage? Usually that's the cause, or your thermostat could be stuck open.

Replaced thermostat replaced sending unit and checked gauge the way hanes manual said.

Sounds like you're on the right track - someone will come along who has swapped clusters before and be able to give you some insight.

Did you change the correct sending unit? There are two, one for the computer and one for the gauge. The one for the gauge is a single wire sensor in the intake manifold near the base of the distributor.

As far as the instrument panel, it should bolt right in and the wires for the tach should already be in the harness so all you would have to do is plug it in. Adding the tach is a good upgrade.

Yes I replaced both. Haynes manual said to groun the unit out to check operation and it did not work. Thank again for any and all help.

You might want to switch your speedometer out on the new cluster, that way you have the correct reading odometer for your truck. I believe that the all have the same wires ran into the cluster assembly and they are for the most part plug and play.
