Good idea to take your wrenches and head out to a wrecking yard and pull all the bolts you can find out of a water pump / timing case on a 302 just to have spares.
Then have a timing case, water pump, timing chain and gears, timing chain gasket set, new serpentine belt, a gallon of coolant and that should eliminate most possibilities for emergency parts runs.
$500 sounds reasonable. I don't know anybody who would touch it for less.

That's a great idea! I was there last week looking for a new front bumper and I saw a nice condistion coolant/winshield container. Should have picked it up.
