It should last forever, it's still running. If you heard the noises it was making before it finally quit, it was tapping and detonating louder than the knock. I killed the starter with the heat but it pull started fine after it cooled down.

I also only paid $700 for my '72 LeMans, but I had to drive to Jersey to get it. Paid $400 for my '65 Corvair. They're not show winners, but I drive the LeMans whenever I can. I got my '92 Taurus for free, it needed a head gasket. All those 3.8s blow the head gaskets, I've done many.

Yep.. me and my trucks already been through so much I just cant see gettin rid of it.. The day i went out and picked it up it was a complete mess.. the inside was all different colors wires hanging everywhere and the outside was spray painted in a primer camo useing the flat black, grey, and rust red primer

I spent the whole first two weeks i had it fixing it up.. i re painted all of the inside with black spray paint then sanded down the whole outside and painted the outside and my dash inserts the same color red (I actually painted it using a spray gun and wet sanded it did it all the right way).. but then i got pissed off trying to keep it washed and clean so i bought 30 cans of flat black spray paint and spray bombed the whole thing lol then threw some $20 rims I found on craigslist on it and it is what it is now lol..

And i beat the hell out of it.. Ive had 2400 lbs of quickrete in her and still running 80 down the interstate lol... its seen more than its fair share of work since ive had it and it just keeps going.. One time I even ripped a old bike in half with it lol.. on accident when i was trying to pull a stump out but still I cant beleive it ripped a bike in half lol

So yeah.. I love my peice of **** way to much to get rid of it lol

I take pride in the fact that almost all the bolts on my vehicles have been removed and replaced by me. My old S10 Blazer I actually did rebuild the whole thing, taking it completely apart for paint and doing an engine upgrade which required rewiring the underhood harness. 8" of suspension lift and 3" body, all done by me. I had fun with that.

Sean I'm sorry to hear about your truck. I hope that you'll get it running again very soon.

I vote to fix it too. You buy something else who knows what kinda problems it'll have. Stick with what you have, you know where your at with it. I just did a heads up rebuild on the cheap on my 89 302 and it cost around $300 and that included buying a new header exhaust setup.

Just a hunch, but he's probably already made that decision by now.
