Default I got truck with a 5.8 motor that is leaking coolant out the exhaust pipe.

I start up my Truck. Let it warm up, rev the engine and suddenly coolant is leaking out the exhaust?

I'm pretty sure it's coolant since it's green. I've drove the tuck before and it never overheated, never made any concerning sound. Drives great and etc.

Coolant coming out the exhaust isn't good. Am I looking at a head gasket? Intake manifold? Cracked cylinder heads? Crack block? What you guys think?

Oh and I've checked the coolant reservoir and the coolant has gotten low. I notice the valve cover underneath the intake looks covers in oil? Sludge? A mix of oil and coolant? idk.

Any input on this?

Most likely a head gasket, but to be safe pull the heads.

do you have any head gasket experience? you can try some "head gasket fix in a bottle" to buy time, but it is not a real fix. I know the wrecking yard I go to sells motors for $150. that might be an option if you have a cracked head/ block or serious pitting and don't want to do a complete rebuild.

you may as well pull both heads and replace both gaskets at the very least

Well I don't have the funds or time to be pulling heads *****-nilly. Also, Im not an experienced mechanic. I've never took offs heads and let-alone this is my first truck.

I decide to let my dad take the truck to his mechanic and have a compression test done. here are the results.

1-170
2-175
3-175
4-170
5-172
6-174
7-170
8-175

It looks quite consistent and thats what Im looking for, right?

With those numbers you might have a worse situation than bad head gaskets. You might have a crack in one head that is after the exhaust valve. This situation is not common and will keep good compression and no miss but leak coolant out the exhaust.

put some barsleak in it till your ready to get some mechanical experience and swap out your motor. if it was a freeze plug problem, you would have antifreeze all over the ground under your truck. it sounds like mitchalvin might be rite with a head problem. I recommend a new set of aluminum heads or just swap out your motor with a used one if your on a budget.

Im just going to run the truck and avoid towing or anything extreme. I'll have to address this when I have a fatter wallet.

I had the system flushed out and swapped out the spark plugs too so lets see where I go. Thanks alot to everyone who helped me out.
