Thanks. My idea didn't work. Pump isn't weak. Pump, pumps nothing. But I can hear it running. This tank has had rust issues. I think its just stopped up. Planning on replacing the tank. Had remove the filler tube or at least the outer portion and put a syphon on it. The reason I had to go through all that was the last time I attempted it with just a syphon, it hit the fuel pump and stopped and all I could get was about 2 gallons. I was FINALLY able to manouver past the pump and get the last 13 gallons out before it went bad.

When you aren't able to pull codes it usually means the computer is bad. Sometimes it's a fuse though, which I think is tied to the dome. Check inside and outside fuses. I'm assuming the truck runs so the computer is getting power, but code retrieval has a separate power. I think it's the computer memory power.

yea the truck does run, and its only gettin about 12-13 mpg. would a bad computer have anything to do with that?

Yep. It's referred to as "Default" or "Failsafe" Mode. But it's usually accompanied by more like 10 mpg.

Any suggestions on a code reader for a 92 f150 5.8 4x4. I am looking to get a code reader and want to know what are some of the decent ones
