I'm concerned the lens is so old that it's just going to break. But if the only way is to pry, I'll try it.

The cover just snaps in. Don't be too broke up if you do break it, you need a new one anyway. It's supposed to be white to let light through.
You can likely get the whole thing with a good lens and nicer chrome for 5 or 10 bucks at the wrecking yard if you're willing to do the legwork to find a good one.

Anything you want to stick in there, I've seen the entire overhead light/storage console from (I think) an 04 in the OBS. Someone on here did it but I couldn't tell you who. Looked pretty sweet and I have been thinking about doing it myself. It's the kind that's up by the windshield, he just used the existing wiring for power and I believe left the original in the rear of the cab.
x2 on finding a base in better shape, good luck on finding the lens though. Mine was missing and I went to three different places looking for one that was white, they were all yellow or cracked. I didn't want to drop $15 on a clear lens but am now considering it.

No wonder I can't see through it!!
It is absolutely not flexing at all. I'm most likely going to break it, but yeah I can just get another. I get so freaked out sometimes on these older vehicles that I can't replace something if it breaks.
Thanks all!
