high mileage
Just bought a 1993 xlt with 190k. wondering who out there has some older trucks with some miles and what can I expect from this truck as far as life expectancy. My truck is in great shape for the mileage and years . It has been well maintained

Adiquate maintenance, especially keeping fluids in good shape, & avoiding high temp events, looooooong life!
If the tranny fluid level/condition is disregarded, you will be punished! Add & run w/ a can of Transtune before changing, & drain the converter too.

I have an 89 302 engine with 187000 on it. The thing with these trucks is that everything is so big and robust that as long as they have oil they will last 100 years. I can tell you a story about the straight 6. A buddy of mine years ago had a friend who needed an engine that could run a pump- The local lake was overflowing real bad. He got an F150 with the straight 6 and rigged it to the pump, cut the frame so it was just the engine and the tranny and he could tow it around (with the 2 tires it sat on). No **** he ran this thing WOT with nearly no oil pressure, DAY and NIGHT, for months on end. The thing just did not die. That is what I think of the 6. Now I am a 302 guy because I am familiar with it, but the 351 Windsor is awesome good. The point is that all of these trucks were build like that 6 he used for the pump. Simple and robust. If yours was well maintained- you got a lot of miles ahead of you. Now Ford electrical- good luck!
