Help, with missing part and cut wire
Hi, I just bought a 94 F150 XL, and there is a cut wire on the solenoid, and a missing part or two right next to it. Also the alternator gauge is showing a very low charge, but the truck cranks and runs. I have attached a photo. I'ts driving me crazy wondering where the wire used to go and what parts are missing, ..Thanks in advance
also, i'm thinking i might be running off of a battery only, might have a dead alternator??? I have only had it a few days
...
................
EDIT The big bracket is for the jack. here's the pic of the jack that answered that for me. http://cdn.instructables.com/FO5/7CO...XKQI.LARGE.jpg
..............
But still need help with the wire

The wheel wrench actually tucks in to the fender behind the jack, so that bracket is still a mystery, I've never seen one before: Whatever it is, you don't need it.

Now I would recommend hitting your body grounds with a wire brush/sand paper if they look anything like the nut/eyelet/bolt on the solenoid. Throw a little dielectric grease on them to help with future rusting. Trust me when I tell you that cleaning grounds (and doing the connectors-quick drying electronic clean) is one of the best things you can do for your truck. Don't know how many people come here with major issues that just turn out to be bad grounds and faulty/corroded connectors. I would say that the only thing that could possibly save more headaches would be to replace the original plastic vacuum lines.

Thanks guys, ............. I'll clean those connectors up and check the hoses ,,,,,,,,,,,,, i did notice the connections looked dirty/rusty maybe that will take care of the dash indicator not showing an alternator charge, even though the battery is showing 12.2 volts on my meter, so it must be charging. Any idea if corroded connectors would cause a false reading on the dash?

Thanks guys............I tested it with it not running at 12.2, so 14 is what is should be while running ?
The alternator looks kind of old, do you think i should just change the whole thing?
I just got a call from someone who is driving the truck, and the alternator died in front of the insurance office , lmao....... awesome timming
EDIT ......... got it home........ and now I'm going to take it out, to see which alternator it is , so i get the right kit.
thanks
