Default Help on 88 w L6 300

I have a 88 f150 with the straight 6 and bw 4 speed. The truck runs great except a few issues.

First I've been getting only around 13 mpg. Both on the highway and around town. I've recently did a tune up and no change. I've been reading prior posts to see if others have had this issue and found answers all over the place. From sensors to vacume leaks.

It also likes to have a high idle at times. Somewhere between 1500 to 2000. It doesn't always do this and doesn't mater if you sitting at a stop light a brakes or out of gear just idleing. It also surges from time to time but it really hasn't since I tuned it up and when I does it's only a 200 rpm swing now vs the 500 plus it had.

The check engine light works but isn't tripped. It use to flutter on and off before I tuned it up.

Any help is apperaciated thanks.

Was able to get the codes scaned at orielys. Came up as tps. Which was fun due to my previous owner... They only put one screw in it and stripped the head. I'm guessing they loc tighted it in also.... Anyways new tps is on now with 2 new screws.

Truck is no longer running at 2 grand for the 5 or so miles I drove it. I did find some other issues I'll post about later.

We have an Oreilly's here that will scan OBDI. Some of their stores are better than others. I don't know why most parts stores refuse to open a $30 OBD1 scanner hanging on a shelf and tell customers they don't check OBD1 vehicles.
