I'm planning on retrofitting projectors with LED bulbs into my smoked lights once I get my TDI's lights done. Nice and simple, lighting isn't something you want to cheap out on.

I see everyone likes the HID's. I wanted to go the LED route but from what I read, they are not as bright as the HID's. O decisions, decisions.

Don't you need a projector specifically made for led bulbs?

I believe I'm in these headlights for around $550 in materials no cheap ebay parts were used in them.

Those look amazing! did you build them yourself or did you buy them from somebody who builds custom headlights?

Haven't looked into it yet but I'd assume if you can get the correct bulb size your good to go. The projectors I'm using in my Jetta use D2S bulbs, I just bought HID's for it but it seems LED's have really taken off within the last little while.

The fitment isn't what concerns me it's the difference in design between an HID bulb and an led bulb. Hid bulb is similar to a halogen bulb as it's a little tube off light and led bulbs are flat with a led on each side.

I just looked up some pictures and I hadn't realized that's all they were, I figured they'd be like my signal bulbs with a ton of little ones pointing every which way. I was sort of regretting just getting HID's for my projectors but I'm glad I did now.
