To be honest, No.
I tryed it thinking the same idea. Sounds little to no different, Worse Gas MPG, Lack of power. More Back-fireing. Could just be my truck thought. never know. but hey thats my experiance with it. Also Found Thrush and Dynomax are just about useless with a 4.9lt. Try Magnaflow or flowmaster. Single into dual. best i can tell yeah.

I have a universal magnaflow, and to be honest its not really to loud, but Ive come to love it. It sounds really good, I had my exhaust off my truck for a couple of months, and I hollowed out my second cat also. It was loud, but it wasnt nice sounding. With the magnaflow its a nice controlled lower rumble..Ive been trying to find a camera with a decent mic to take a vid.

Well my best experience for making a 4.9l sound good with a nice rumble and pop is to put a chamber muffler like a flo-master or in my case a flo-pro because I am to cheap to spend 80 bucks on a flowmaster. but anyway I originally cut the second cat off and tryed to hollow out the first cat will turned out it is hollow out of the factory so I hollowed out the second one and took to my local muffler shop will I dropped it off with the hollow cat and they called me and said they'd rather run a straight 2 inch pipe from the look alike cat in the front to the flo-pro on out threw a 12inch echo chamber and the truck sounds real good now. Has a good noticable but not to noticable rumble with a very nice distinct pop after it shifts or shifts down. So im happy.....

I used a oval flo-pro muffler. The 12 inch echo chamber is just another phrase for a exhaust tip which i really do think make a truck sound alittle different. Mine is just a slant chrome tip. I like to try one of them round canister exhaust tips that they put on rice burners. Depending on how the truck looks. I think it would give it alot more of a quiet bassier rumble but would probably take away the distinct pop that I like and turn it into a more rumbley pop. It is pretty quiet for some tastes tho. Although it does sound really good for being a 300 inline six.

Chambered mufflers FTL. They rob power. Get a magnaflow. It has a straight thru design and sounds good.
