Gearing questions!
I have a 93' F-150, extended cab, 6 1/2 foot bed, 4x4, v8 302, blah, blah, blah...
In the midst of getting trans replaced, and have some work done in the shop with exhaust, running 31's right now, but would like to get 35's and whatever size lift required. I believe I have 3.55 gearing, would this be suitable, or what changes should be made so I'm not bashing my truck with normal driving, or making it a dog..?
-Thank you!

4.56 might be better, I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure some of our trucks came from the factory with 4.10 gears and therefore easier to find a complete axle at a yard or something instead of regearing your own (PITA from what I hear).

4.9L 300 I6 3:55 gears limited slip... 35x12.50x15 tires... it'll still turn em and burn em... if you are wanting to regear I'd go for it... but it's not necessary... not I'm my opinion... this truck is my daily driver and it does fine, I don't get why everyone freaks out about 35's... now go any bigger on tire and you may definitely want to lol

If you want to regear id go with 4.10 but you can regear 4.56 too.

Tmadd1018 - Thank you, since I have a 302/V8, am I technically pushing out more horses/torque? If you can turn them in a 300/I6, then I should definitely be able to right?
Also what are the specs on your truck? Looks nice from the rear, just wondering how similar it is to mine with looks/"hop-ups"/etc...

94 F150 300 4.9L I6 5 speed trans. (M5R2) 140,000 miles 2x4 swapped rear end with a 3:55 gear limited slip rear end. Smog deleted... Umm 35x12.5x15 cooper stts, 15x8 dick cepek wheels... and I'm waiting on my electric fans to come in... and oh yeah no cats, straight pipe to 3in inlet flowmaster super 50, to 2x2.5in outlets that dump over the rear axle that sound pretty damn good that's about it man as far as motor and drive train.

Maybe to many trucks?
302s have all their power on the top end where as 300 I6s have low end torque. Huge difference when talking between the 300 and 302.
I would recommend 4.56 or 4.88 gears as it would bring performance up a little also.
If I put 35s on my 88 F150 302 I would have 4.56s but I also have a C6 no OD trans.

Tmadd1018 - Ah nice nice, I have Flowmaster Shorty Headers, through a custom made Y-Pipe, to the racing cat (you can see through the honeycombs clearly lol), to the super 44's. Dual pipes all the way out, ends in front of the passenger side back tire.
I also have a 4 speed AOD w/ overdrive.
