I'm looking to make my XLT 5.0 a little faster, and I'm thinking I should get a new rear end. But I don't know anything about differentials or gear ratios. When I was looking online i saw 3 different kinds that would work. 3.55, 3.31, and a 2.73. Does anyone know which will make my ride the fastest????

Of the three ratios given, the 3.55 will offer the best off-the-line performance. As far as a true 'fast' - that depends on which you run out of first - horsepower, or RPMs.

I still prefer the 3.55 of the three - but that depends on your transmission and its final drive ratio. Also, tire size is another variable.
