Hello all,
I am trying to understand all this gear ratio talk. Now my qustion is when preforming a gear ratio swap what is better for GAS/engine lower or higher? I do not tow anything can but dont. The college I am transfering to is about 30-45 min away aprox 52 miles there and back . Now i want to do anything and everything possible to increase mpg so any suggestions would help.

If you're keeping stock tires and don't care about 0-60, get 2.73's. Also make sure to keep up on PM.

You need to select a gear ratio that will keep your engine in it's power band. If you have stock sized tires, the gears ford put in your truck are the correct gear ratio.
