Default gas tank problems

i have a 1994 302 5.0 4x4.

when i go to the gas station to put fuel in the front tank it only lets me put in 10 sometimes 20 cents at a time. it takes forever to fill it up. someone told me the vent hose may be clogged or someone may have put something down the filler hose. how do i go about fixing either of these problems?

Most fill pipes are actually two pipes. One inside each other and both connect at different fittings.

There is really only one thing to do. run the front tank out and pull it so you can inspect and repair whatever it is that is blocking the fuel filler. A PIA I know but there you go.

My old man use to have 1990 with the dual tanks. Never had that problem but I can tell you for sure you vent line is blocked.

Personally i wouldn't drop the tank or nothing. Just lower the level in the tank so its not up to the top of the tank. Craw up under the truck at the tank fill line and inspect the entire vent line the whole way down. It should be a 1/4" to 1/2" tube running down along the fill pipe. See if there are any kinks in that line anywhere, if so thats quite possiable to be your problem. Try and fix it. Its only a vent line, you may need to lower the tank to replace it right from the top of the pump. Hope this helps...

I have a 1994 5.0 302. When I got it last week I noticed it was running off the rear tank and when I switched it to the front tank it showed empty and died. I took it to the gas station and attempted to put gas in the front tank and gas started to spit back out on me from around the nozzle. I have since found out the fuel pump is bad and am planning on replacing it. Just wondered why it was spitting gas back at me.

Holy thread resurrection. Lol.

The vent line will spit fuel back into the fill nozzle when the tank gets full. The vent line's purpose is to help remove air from the tank so that fuel can fill as much as possible. When the tank gets full, fuel can go into the vent line.
