Full spool Rear end
Alright so in my f150 my rear end is old and doesn't like to work well any more. its the original tac-lok from '96. Its making a whole bunch of noises now that aren't pretty. So i was looking around and it is my DD, but i have been looking at summit and jegs, and there are full spools for about 170 bucks, and a whole new trac-lok carrier is 280, Just wondering what i should do because i would like posi, but i heard that full spools suck in DDs. Is that true? what should i do

yep a spool with throw you off the roads in a turn at higher speeds... even though you turn the wheel the truck will want to go straight and what little turning it does will rapidly chew up the tires...
if you want get a LockRite.... still slip on turns..
easier to add the additive if its missing...and the fluid has been changed
I say rebuild what you have too... its cheap

ok well in that case, i think i am going to buy the whole trac lok carrier because i have pulled alot of metal shavings/shards out of my rear end which i know it very unhealthy

Umm that's probly gears and bearings fallin apart...doubt the carrier and clutches have anything to do with it, shavings and shards mean total rebuild. Even if yer gears an such are ok just put new clutches in like the other guy said...that's bout a 150 bucks...if that.

If your set on a locking rear end you can get a manual locker. It runs as an open on the road and when your off road flip the switch and the axle locks. However its not cheap. I have been happy with my rebuilt limited slip. ( trac lock )
