Fuel pump remains on & truck won't start - HELP
#11
Also...
How's THIS for a mystery... my father stuck a screwdriver into the end of the wire coming OFF the coil grounded himself and told me to start the truck. He got shocked. Power IS coming out of our BRAND NEW coil. BUT.... when we put a spark plug in the SAME wire, it doesn't spark... but we try the same test on our other vehicle and it sparks... WTF?

i know this may seem like a stupid but to easy o a question, but have you checked all your fuses? ive had so many problems in the past that go back to nothing more then a simple lil'ol FUSE.

Also, just tried to run some codes on it, but nothing was posting. I think it's not going to work because we've disconnected the battery already.

I followed the guide on this forum on how to achieve the codes. Maybe I wasn't making enough contact. All I did was bridge the STI to the proper STO input with a jumper cable and then turned the key on. Am I doing anything wrong?

Okay, I got all day today to work on the truck. But this dead computer (PCM, right?) is sounding more and more like the issue here. I got a test light so I am going to run some more tests and try to run the codes again.
I am getting no spark from brand new ignition parts and my fuel pump runs constantly with the key ON. Would the fuel pump act like that if the main computer was fried?

Yes, while I was researching forum about fuel pump issues, I found several same sympthoms which turned out to be fried computer. I guess you may have it tested?

Also, we followed the section in chapter 5 of the Haynes manual to test the ignition system and even those tests point to a fried PCM.
If I replace this PCM and still get no spark, I'm killing myself.
