Swap to carburetor?
I searched but didn't see anyone do a write up or explain why people don't switch these older motors to carburetors. Is there a reason? I have always been a fan myself, easier upkeep and easier trouble shooting IMO. Would like to hear your guys input on the matter. I know the fuel economy would be worse but that's besides the point.

I would love to swap my 4.9 efi over to 5.0 carb but around here our inspection and emissions kinda make it difficult! We have to have all the original smog control that came stock. So if I swap to a 5.0 I have to keep all that crap and its hard to with a carb

Do they check for it where you live? Because I had a 86 Suburban my buddy ripped all that smog stuff off of and the TBI off the truck and stuck a Carb on it. Even yanked the egr valve off the motor and I could get it to pass. Took some fine tuning of the Carb but I got it to pass. Ran it through inspection 12 times in one day before it passed. Actually got 20 miles to the gallon too.

Yea thy do a visual inspection lol. She's all got to be there. I swapped one into my old 90 f150 and no one around here would pass me since I didn't have that stuff
