Default Different front/rear gears...which ones should I swap to?

Bought my truck off a dude who did NOT disclose that the front gears are 3.55 and the rear 4.10, which screws me for 4wd unless I'm spinning tires in the mud/snow.

My questions are as follows...

* If i want to swap out the 3.55 gears to 4.10 in the front to match it with the rear, will they fit in the casing or will I have to buy a new, bigger casing to fit them?
* Should I say screw it and switch the rear back to 3.55? I'm not pulling heavy loads and only go off-roading a few times a year, so the 4.10s aren't exactly necessary.

Basically, what's the cheapest/easiest fix here, cause I just wasted some big cash on this already. See my Problem after Problem thread for the details.

And I just bought new 35s, so I'm not putting smaller tires on the front to compensate the offset.

You have 35's. This is a no-brainer. 4:11's in the front.

Best way to do it might just be to find a compatible front end with the gears you want from a local yard. Or craigslist. I wish you lived close to me this would be easy:

That would have made it too easy though, wouldn't it have. Any idea how many man hours it would take to swap the front end out?

It wouldn't take more than a day if you knew what you were doing and had the appropriate tools and space to do it. Dare I ask how much it cost to put the new gears in the front the first time?

I've got a 4:10 third member here. You'd have to come to Ontario to get it.

Well... that ain't gonna happen. What I could do though....if he were to bring me 200 US and the 3:55's, I could do that. If it helps out. I can always find a use for the 3:55's or just sell them off or something. Mr Google says it's a 5 1/2 hour drive though so it's probably not worth it.

lol. If it were summer and my passport weren't expired, that'd be a fun drive but not one I'd want to do in winter.I appreciate the offer though!
