Default Front fuel pump change

92 f-150 5.0 extended cab short bed. 175000 miles still runs strong.

I'm pretty sure the front fuel pump is out. It has been whining loudly for years but now the engine barely runs. When I switch to the rear tank it runs fine.
My question, has anybody out there changed the pump by removing the bed instead of lowering the tank? I know of one person whi has done it. They said it was a piece of cake. Anybody else? If so any special situations i should be aware of? The tank is over half full, so I would have to remove the fuel if I did if the prescribed way.

Any suggestions?

Thats the best way to do it. On Rangers that is the only way I will change the fuel pump. Takes about 15 minutes on the Ranger about 30 on the full sized trucks. Now the ones I did it on were single tank F150 make sure that there is nothing over the tank to block it where you have to drop it anyway.

it's definitely easier just to remove the bed (or at least it was on my s-10) but it is probably the way to go on an f150, too
