I have a 1995 F-150 XLT 2WD 4.9L L6. It has a front and rear tank, and only one gas gauge.

The guage seems to be accurate on the back tank, but when I flip to the front tank it will stay on E when full and then sometimes be at 3/4 full, and 1/2 full.

Is this a bad sending unit on the front tank? Or do I just need a new float?

Being so erratic would lead toward the sending unit. Its simple to test the float, see if it floats, it either will or won't
