Default Front cover antifreeze leak....

Can anyone explain this to me . I head the truck checked and the mechanic said that the "front cover is leaking". is this the right term for the leak or can it be called something else. he said there is a cover on the front of engine that is the problem. the leak is not dripping but the antifreeze needs to be filled occasionally.

Your water pump is bolted to your timing chain cover so your water pump might be leaking out of the weep hole if it is shot and only needs an occasional addtion of antifreeze. That would be the first possibility. Then again, maybe the timing chain cover gasket is shot. If you're taking the pump and cover off you might as well invest in a new pump anyway. That is the only cover on the front of the motor.
