I'll be swapping out the muffler this weekend along with oil pan but just thought I'd put this up for now. Not bad from where we started. More pics after the job is done.

Just another update: started the oil pan/muffler job on 8/14. Disconnected exhaust (see video above) and then unbolted the motor mounts and got the cherry picker in to lift up the engine. Not much to show picture-wise. pretty straight forward. lift engine, use planks of wood to stabilize the lifted engine and unbolt the oil pan. Should have snapped a pic of the old oil pan cuz there was a good chunk of sludge at the bottom... The Y-pipe did get in our way so we disconnected the Y pipe with the manifolds and its a good thing we did (see nice big crack in manifold below)... Put everything back together and bolted it up. Oil pan is bone dry now and the new muffler (flowmaster 44) is put on also. She sounds much more tame than I thought she would but I don't need anything super aggressive anyways. Overall- a real pain of a job but glad it's complete cuz I won't be messing with that on this truck ever again. Hopefully by the time fall comes we can put some pain on this ol' girl!

Did you replace the manifold or put it back on until you get a new one? Nice job.

Awesome! I've got a cracked manifold as well, but I've yet to get to that. Funds have been limited of late.
I put a dynomax ultraflow welded muffler w/ a new magnaflow y pipe and cat, it's got a good rumble for stock manifolds on a 5.0. Don't even wake the neighbors (I think).

i've got a small-to-medium leak of coolant coming from the passenger side of the engine area... its in a blind spot bc i crawled under and around the engine the other day and couldnt find the source. my upper and lower hoses are fine. my thermostat and hose is fine. radiator is fine. what other area am i missing? pump? i'll try to take some detailed pics this weekend and i'll keep feeling around.

Heater core? Sometimes you have to pressurize the system in order to find the leaks, I had a lower rad hose that had a pinhole in it. It would only leak when hot and pressurized but even then it was such a fine spray that I couldn't locate it until one day the hole opened a little more and I could actually see it.
The passenger side is basically the core, heater hoses, the metal heater hose mount on the alternator, upper hose>radiator mount, radiator petcock. Everything else is in the middle or driver's side.
Just crawl under after a drive and wait for drips then try to track it, the crossmember kind of makes it hard to locate some leaks because they drip on it then go which ever way the truck is leaning.
