When I had to pull my distributor, I needed to use a very long crowbar to get it dislodged.

So it's broken off below flush to the manifold? If so, about the only way to get it out is to nut up and drill it. Lol.

If the heads still on, I'd say get some good knock er loose and soak it for a day or two.

picked up a 'stripped bolt remover' socket set at sears which helped turn the bolt head but snapped the thread in the mount... anyways- here's what i have. hit me with the news. i don't know much about the inside of an engine but i'm thinking this does not look good...

also- what's next- exhaust manifold?

Scrape the gasket off carefully. Then spray penetrating fluid on that bolt shank over a couple days to let it soak in. You can get left handed drill bits and an easy out set pretty cheap. Just grind a flat spot on the bolt them center punch it. Only drill far enough for the easy out to bite. Take your time, it's not something to rush.

Or you can take that head to a machine shop and let them do it. Lol.

To clean the heads, use baking soda and vinegar. Leave the gasket on the head side. Use a small copper or nylon brush and scrub gently. It'll take a bit, but you won't damage the chamber. Use any common degreaser to clean the outside. If you use any cleaner on the cylinders, make sure you oil them before you rotate the motor. Transmission fluid has always worked for me.
