Fuel tank????
I have an 89 F150, I6, 2WD with 2 fuel tanks.
The forward tank, long and thin, is leaking from the back (only when tilted back, ie, parked on a hill with the front end at a higher elevation than the back end).
So....will this tank work for replacing it? It's the same shape but I am just not sure if there is a difference between the forward fuel tank in a dual setup and the single tank in a single setup.

FINELINE Part # FLF14D Steel, incl lock-ring
Side Mount; 16 Gal. (Only 3 Remaining)

Rock auto Is very good about Showing the correct part for each application. If that is the tank they list for your truck Then it should work without any problems. I have ordered many many parts from Rock Auto And never gotten the wrong 1 yet.
My question is do you know where your tank is leaking from? There are 2 holes in the top of the tank, 1 is for the pump and sender assembly And the other is for the vent. Each 1 having its own seal. Either of the seals could be leaking Especially when your leak happens if the tank is full Or near full.

My truck is a long wheel base.
As a side note, since there's no details on the size of the 16 gal tank, is there any chance that it would fit in place of the 18 gal tank and just hold less? The point is that I'd rather pay less than more, so I'd just buy the cheaper one if I could.

On the other hand, besides the fuel tank selector switch, what prevents me from just taking down the leaking tank and using the rear tank alone? The lines running from the selector valve thing (I don't remember the part name) are only pulling fuel from the forward tank when you switch it on in the cab, right?
So, could I just siphon the gas out of the leaking tank, take it down and leave the fuel tank selector switch "switched" on to the rear tank?

Oh snap, hold up. The fuel level sender is on the fuel pump assembly, right? If so, the one on the front tank (leaking) works and the one on the back (not leaking) doesn't. I could switch them out and actually know how much gas is in there.
That'd be nice.
