floor shift automatic

No Pain, No Pain!
Many years ago, I had an F100, 1974 vintage. The linkage broke, or was otherwise inoperable. I took the truck to a local repair shop and they were able to install a floor shifter from a Ford car. They had to cut a hole in the floor of the truck to accomplish this, but in the end everything worked out fine. I just had to lean over a little to move the shifter.

i have a 1989 f-150 that came out of the factory as a 4 speed but someone changed it to a automatic. Well when they did that they had to be able to shift the tranny so they utilized the old 4 speed hole with a floor shifter. It has a few air leaks but it does work good and hasnt given me a bit of probs yet. I hope it all holds out until about this november because then I will have the money to switch it back to a 4 speed. Anyway it works good but why would you do it?
