I am looking for a pic of the location of the radiator petcock in my 94 5.0L. the couple photos I have found on the internet/in my manual are either so over/underexposed that they're useless, or are too zoomed in to locate the petcock with relation to what's near it. I had been just pulling off the lower radiator hose to drain the coolant but I think I'm ready to stop doing things the ghetto way lol anyone help me out?

Some newer radiators do not have them, but check the lower pass side of radiator.

im no photographer but... i just ran out and took a couple pics of mine (also a 94). its on the passenger side tank. its on the back side a couple inches from the bottom. wait.. a couple inches from the bottom, whos idea was that? anyway, heres pics, hope it helps.

thanks, I got it now... now I just have to figure what to unscrew to open it up lol. I had no idea yours was a 94 also, and you're only about an hr away from me

it looks like a plastic wing nut. the tank is molded so it kinda hangs off the side. another way to drain it would be pulling the lower radiator hose off. WARNING: messy! i dont start my new job for a couple weeks so youre welcome to make a trip to columbus and i'll help you drain it.

what I really need to do is take a garden hose and run it into the radiator then run the engine with the petcock open until it comes out clear I was having trouble getting all the crap out of the coolant. I might wait until the spring, it's a little cold to be putting water in the radiator these days

have a 1994 Ford F 150. I found the petcock by opening my hood and on the passenger side located by the battery against the side of the radiator you will see plastic yellowish brown nut a 3/4 inch wrench should loosen it.

Go to walmart and get the $4 Prestone flush kit (basically just a T with a cap), insert into one of you heater core lines. Have one in mine and flushes and fills are a breeze, no mess, and no major air pockets. It stays in so you never have to worry again, just attach a length of garden hose to it and put in a 5 gallon bucket, stick your hose/water source in the fill neck turn the truck on, turn the water on. Fill the bucket and the rest should be straight water which you can just let flow on the ground. For best results run a chemical flush additive for a day or two prior. When refilling just leave the cap off the T until you get coolant that tries to escape, cap and finish filling. With main cap on burp the upper rad hose a few times, refill, repeat until no level change when burping. Fill reservoir to cold fill and drive it up/down a couple hills, you may have to refill reservoir 2-3 times to cold fill line but there will be no air pockets, you can speed it up by burping the upper hose after the initial drive as that is where the air will migrate to.
