Default F150 slipping

My brothers got a '92 F150 5.0 etc.. and he's been sayin that when he's driving, the RPM's will jump then go back to normal and it only does it every now and then. He wants to sell it to me for a mud truck but would like to get an idea of whats wrong with it 1st.

Sooo...do the rpm's jump when he gets on the throttle? when hes taking off? at cruising speed? Has there been alot of towing done with it? does he live in/drive to mountains alot? Is it the original trans?

P.S. Is your name Mrs lithers? or Mr slithers?

MrSlithers lol. I forgot to capitalize the S. He said its slipping when he's just cruising. No towing and we live in Illinois so no mountains. The tranny might be original but not sure. The truck has been babied all its like. Has about 200K miles and runs perfect.

Might just be the torque converter locking and unlocking....

I'd replace that anyway after 200k

That's what I figured. Same thing happened to my '95 4.9 but it only lasted for 2 days then went away.

I agree with changing the fluid and would use a lucas tranny additive...some say it doesnt help but it did for my old family car...and it's not like it could hurt!
