F150 restoration
Hey guys,
I have a 94 f150 with a 4.9, single cab, long bed, C+ body. It is high time to get a paint job before the rust gets any worse. Ive done a good deal of the mechanicals so far:
already done:
valve cover, side cover, oil pan gaskets
axle seals
rear end seal
adjusted valves
thermostat
radiator / brake hoses / lines
master cylinder
rear wheel cylinders
brake pads all around
new radio
it runs really well, AC is cold, 19+ mpg on the highway, zero oil consumption / drips.
here's the general parts list so far:
(already have)
new used rear bumper
new front hood
OE alloys (probably will be powder coated)
to buy:
front fenders (is it possible to get fiberglass front fenders?)
new front bumper
rear wheel well patch panels
new rear tailgate
new mirrors
as of now i'm looking at broncograveyard for these parts. Their prices are good, and I can cut out 336 dollars by just driving there rather than ordering them.
Now I need suggestion:
I do NOT want my truck to rust. what can I do? rock gaurd the inside of my fenders? any good tips will be appreciated.
Do you guys know of better places to get these parts for cheaper? I intend to do all of the prep work (or most of it) myself, then farm out the painting. I also intend to por-15 my frame, then top coat it. Also, I will undercoat the cab / bed.
What am I forgetting?
thanks for the help!

Yea, that's where I scored my hood / rear bumper. Im in northern michigan / chicago so salt has pretty much ruined all scrap yard material, and rust is my #1 enemy in this project.

There are diberglass fenders for our truck. But they have a little bit of baja style flare to them, if you run a little wider/bigger tires i think it would actually look really nice.

broke white boy
you can get some good prices on stuff from rockauto.com
new headlights 16 bucks
chrome outside mirrors like 20 bucks each
chrome grill parts cheap.
check out your local body shop for the fenders.
if this is a resto your going to want to sandblast the body and frame to kill all the rust or it will just be back in a few years.
