Post F150 ext cab longbed 4x2 to 4x4

I have a 96 F150, ext cab, longbed, AODE-W,302,2wd and i love this truck. The truck has a 2 piece drive shaft and I wanted to know if it as possible 2 convert it into a 4x4.If so,how and would it be difficult and expensive, or is it better if i just left it a 2wd.

Lots of work, but it is a direct bolt in, if you do you would be better to find a 1980-1996 donor truck, they are basically the same, the shaft would probably be too long for the 4x4. You would also want to find a manual 4x4 not a push button.

You will need the trans, the 4x2 and 4x4 tail shafts are different.

i would think the tranny would be fine but will need to add a transfer case, thats why the rear shaft is shorter
