Default F150 1996 5.0L Thermostat

It looks like that in order to change the thermostat on my 1996 F150 5.0L, I have to remove the A/C compressor, power steering pump, and water pump.

Am I right?

I don't think all that much changed between '89 and '96 other than body sheet metal.

If so, then no - never removed any of that. It helps to have the right tools - universal joint for socket set works wonders.

no you dont have to remove any of that. i removed my airlfilter tubes up to the throttle body and used just a simple closed end wrench...
i removed two things. Airfilter tubes (cant remember the name) and the hose on the thermo housing.

The top bolt is easy its the one behind the timing cover that takes a little time to get out. Make sure when you go back together that the thermostat is set in the groove and dosen't drop down. I use a little silicone to hold the thermostat in place.

Just pull the intake hose, the radiator hose and the small hose.
