Default F-150 hard shift between 1st-2nd

I have a 1994 x-cab F-150. Absolutely love the truck. I do have one problem I am trying to resolve. The truck shifts hard between 1st and 2nd gear. All other gears are fine. I have done a complete tune up. I have had the transmission check and there are no codes on it. There are no codes on the engine either.

Some one mentioned adjusting the linkage. I was unsure which linkage or how to do it.

Does this sound right? If so, how do I do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same thing on my truck( 94' f150) XL. I have to take a look at the linkage, I think it might be that. The tranny is fine but I think the linkage has just worn out

How many miles on tranny? Was it used allot to tow with? If so clutches could be wearing and have little more clearance. Making a hard shift since more space for clutch pack too travel.

Mine has 230,000 miles of the tranny. The clutch was replaced i am guessing 6-7 years ago and it was used a good amount for hauling things. But to get it to go in first you have to slam it in the dash, I might work on it this weekend

Default 139K with an automatic

My truck is an automatic with 139K on it. I knew the previous two owners and it was not used to tow much at all.

Just got done at the dealership, appearance there is a TSB out for 2008 f150 regarding a check valve in the transmission that needed to be replaced. my computer was also flashed as recommended in another Ford TSB. i wont know if this check valve resolves the issue until next week when i get it replaced.

On a side note: i got a bit of a surprise when i went to pick up my truck from the dealership today. It seems that some hot shot mechanic was out having a little to much fun "testing" the "repairs" that they never made because the part wasn't in stock. i was told he "bumped" into another car and my truck suffered damage. the rear bumper was pushed 2" into the box, my hidden hitch was bent at the frame, rear quarter panels will need to be replaced, chrome rock guards peeled back like a tin can. interior was a wreck, my ipod was located in the back seat, dislodged from the docking station, cup holders front and rear blown open and all my CDs from my sun visor holder were on the seat. If this was just a "bump" i would hate to see what he woulda done had he actually ran into someone. the damage is very indicative of a rear ending however it was this mechanics fault as he hit the vehicle while in reverse.

3 questions the service manager could not answer for me...

1: why was my truck taken out of the city for a "test drive" after no parts were
replaced
2: Why was it even taken off the lot to test a rough shift between 1st and 2nd gears?
3:How fast was this mechanic going in reverse?

i am seeking legal advice to see if there is someway this mechanic will be punished for this stupid, very preventable accident to my truck.

My F150 has 103,000 miles on it and I also have this problem. It shifts hard from 1st to 2nd gear and more so when you take off fast from a dead start. Are there other owners on this site having this problem? I was wondering if there is a fix for this problem and should I be worried that this is a sign of the Transmission starting to go?
