Default Exhaust piping size.

Any one know of the exact size of the exhaust piping? Is it all one size or different at all the connections? Or better yet what side is the muffler inlet/outlet.

I just replaced the cat-back exhaust on my '87 w/ 300. Muffler was 2.25 INSIDE diameter, both ends. Advance Auto was having their aniversary celebration, 20% off every thing purchased online, free shipping & and a $50 coupon if more than $125 was spent. So I bought new extension pipe, 31" Cherry Bomb, Tail pipe, new hanger rubbers, upper & lower radiator hoses, thermostat, cap & rotor, Plugs, Plug wires and fog lights. Total bill was around $155, after sale price reduction & coupon, my total was $83.

There's a comma after Cherry bomb and before tailpipe so i'm gonna assume 31" long cherrybomb muffler and a replacement tailpipe.

Correct! Cherry Bomb Muffler,
and a tail pipe.

Do to the long length of the muffler, even being straight through it is quiet, I'm almost disapointed. My neighbor seemed relieved, wonder what his problem is? LOL
I mean, because my other F150 rattles his windows, I figured he be used to it.

Are the smaller cherry bombs louder?

Yes. With any muffler the shorter the louder and the longer the quieter.
A 12" cherry bomb is twice as loud as a 24". Also smaller pipe will give more snap and bigger pipe will give a deeper tone.

i got 2 1/4 inch pipe on mine but if you want it to fit right over the tip of the muffler 2 3/8 or 2 1/2 should fit right on there.

On my 89 F150 w/ 5.0 I have a bone stock y pipe and cats, dumping into 2.5 extension pipe a 2.5 x 16" glasspack and 3" tail pipe for a diesel. Sounds awesome!
