Default oil leak on the side of my 4.9

i have an oil leak that looks like its coming from the side of my motor. there is a tin rectangle (about 4 by 10) on the drivers side of my motor that looks like it may be the cause. Whats under this cover and has any one seen this leak before. and what would the gasket be called?

That would be your pushrod cover, and appropriately the pushrod cover gasket. The hardest part seems like getting everything else out of the way. I haven't done mine yet as is last on my to do list at this point but I've been told its easy. The gasket is something like $15 from Napa or Autozone and should come with new bushings.

I've heard copper spray sealant helps to stick it on, that's about it.

I used trim adhesive to glue the gasket to the push rod cover. Make sure the cover has not been over tightened previously and bent, if so take time to straighten it out. Barely past hand tight is fine. I spent couple extra bucks for cork, better for this application in my opinion. Use some lock tight.

Let me step in with my opinion also, cork sucks. If I can find it in rubber, it gets rubber.
